We are often asked about the protocol for sending out Thank You Cards, so why not chat about that a little here…..

Here’s a good timeline for thanks for all of for all your special occasions:

  • Engagement parties and showers, within two to three weeks of the festivities
  • Gifts sent to you before the wedding date, as soon as possible, but definitely before the wedding
  • gifts given on the day itself, within three months
  • gifts received after your wedding, within two to three weeks
  • Thank You cards for vendors, day of or within two weeks. (most of the time your wedding planner will pass these out for you if you hand them over
  • card

A few other thoughts here:

The task of writing out all of these “Thank You’s” can be a daunting one…make it fun! Split the duties! Do a few every evening together! The easiest way to divvy up the responsibility is to have your groom acknowledge those gifts from his friends and family since he knows them best, and you write to those guests you are more familiar with. If the spouse doing the writing is the only one signing his or her name, remember to mention the other partner in the body of the note (“Luke and I really love the vase. with Love, Sara”).

Don’t skimp out on your loved ones…a handwritten, personal message from you and your new spouse, including a reference to the specific gift, is the least you should offer your guests for their time and expense. No pre-printed cards please!

If you have it in your budget, you can get personalized Thank you Cards, photos, stamps, labels, all kinds of goodies!

Thanking Vendors….

Each one of your vendors work very, very hard to make your special day just right. Everyone appreciates a Thank You for a job well done! Gratuity is never expected but ALWAYS appreciated. 15% of their fee is standard. Tuck a little treat in a nice hand written card and hand those to your planner on the day of, they will pass them out for you…and this is one less thing for you to have to worry with!

It is NEVER too late to say THANK YOU.

We LOVE bottles! All kinds of bottles, all sizes and colors! They really jazz up a table setting. These light blue are a great representation of the one of the most common colors of sea glass!                                      table decortable 2

It is HOT, HOT, HOT here at the beach! But it is still a favorite time of the year for couples to Tie the Knot! We have seen some creative ways for guests to “beat the heat” while attending weddings when the heat is so intense, here are a few of our favorite ideas!

Have ice cold bottles of water for your guests to grab on their way to their seats! This is an inexpensive way to help your guests stay cool. You can even order personalized labels!Image

Give your guests their own pair of shades! Again, you can have these personalized too.Image

Welcome bags are GREAT! They don’t have to be fancy schmancy, just water, snacks, maybe some sunscreen and a local map!

Bug Spray! This is major here! We have these little creatures knows as “no see-ums”, pesky little gnats that will eat you alive and they are too small to see…not to mention mosquitoes!

These are just a few of our favorites ideas to help keep cool. Do you have any ideas?

This wedding was all about the Romance!! These two were so much in love and you could see it all over their faces! This is a local couple that wanted to relish in the beauty of our “home” on their BIG DAY! Jessica’s dress was amazing and all of the other details just helped to bring together the true beauty of this whole wedding. We had a great team of vendors here as well! Photos by Casey Futrell Photography.

Their wedding was chosen to be featured in Crystal Coast Bride Magazine, they were asked to tell their story, here is what they said:

“Jeremi and I met on a blind date set up by mutual friends. Within moments of meeting me, Jeremi said to his friend he would marry me. We both fell very hard and very fast for each other. I know it sounds cliché but we both just knew we had found our perfect person. Within the first month I knew I had met the man of my dreams and Jeremi knew he had met the woman of his. At the time I was living on Emerald Isle and we would spend the evenings walking on the beach together. Jeremi and I began thinking about our dream wedding during these walks. We envisioned a ceremony on the beach with the wind blowing in my hair and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. We admired all of the gorgeous beach homes and talked about which ones would be perfect for a wedding ceremony and reception. Just over 10 months after our first date, Jeremi proposed to me with his great-grandmother’s engagement ring at his family’s lake house in Georgia. As soon as we returned home, I set up appointments to view beach homes. We saw a few venues that were beautiful, but just did not seem to fit us. Then we saw Dream Maker. The moment we pulled up to the grey home and pink doors, Jeremi and I looked at each other and said “this is it.” Dream Maker gave us the best of both worlds and of our two worlds. We could have the beach wedding of our dreams (representing my coastal roots), followed by a tented reception with the country flare (representing Jeremi’s country roots). The property was private and secluded and seemed like a world all of its own. Walking the property with Zena, we began dreaming of our perfect wedding, our dream wedding. Jeremi and I found our dreams in each other and found this beautiful venue to be the perfect place to begin our lives and our dreams as husband and wife. With the help of our families and many talented vendors, these dreams came true at Dream Maker.”

This Bride and Groom knew how to have a great time! This was a beautiful June day, the sun was shining bright! These two were so sweet and laid back. Faith Photography did a great job capturing their fun-loving spirits, take a look!

This was a FUN wedding! So many super sweet details and a great team of vendors made this wedding really stand out! Stunning colors, homemade wine for favors, a beautiful three tiered cake….Here are a few of our favorite photos from their BIG DAY. Photos courtesy of Blest Photography.

Did you watch the Oscars last night? I LOVE the Oscars….I count down every year ’til the day I can watch all of the beautiful people dressed up in beautiful clothes walk across my tv screen. This year did not disappoint! There were so many amazing dresses in an array of lovely colors. Here are just a few of my favorites. These could easily be used for bridesmaid dress inspiration, or even bridal gowns….think outside of the box!

Let’s start with my favorite….Lupita! She seemed to float across the stage in this dress. The color was perfect and overall, this dress was killer!! Hands down my favorite of the night.

Imagine this dress in Ivory…perfect Bridal gown! Sandra looked fabulous.

This dress was…different. But, I really like it! I think for a Mother of the Bride look, this could be really great! Imagine it in a lavender or nude. Julia is always classic.

Here is one more that could really be a perfect Bridal gown! I love the color and the style. Jenna looked fabulous in this dress.

What did you think of the fashion at this years Oscars? Were you impressed? On a side note, I think Ellen is the best host of this kind of show. I am usually bored, but this year she kept me laughing!
